Monty Python was/is a group of 5 British and 1 American comedians, or more to the
point, insane lunatics, who actively produced material from the late 1960's until
the 1980's. Throughout their history, the group produced several movies, songs,
and even five series of their own TV show -- Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Their comedy was completely original and of a unique style of its own. The
content of their television series was extremely wacky, often having a sketch
jump straight from one to another, while there being a hidden key of coherence
buried somewhere deep behind all the insanity! Or maybe not. The most recent news I have
heard of about MP is Eric Idle's ongoing solo comedy tour. Apparently the other
Monty Python members feel ready to retire from the silly business, while he still
feels comfortable with it. To make up for the loss, he has hired a group of
performers who can take part in some of the old MP sketches and perform a lot of
the old songs with him as well.
